# VS Code release history and what changed since 2024

Source page: https://dev-news.anonyfox.com/vscode/

Every VS Code release since February 2024 from the microsoft/vscode GitHub releases, the switch from monthly to weekly releases, and what happened to the VS Code stories dev-news covered back then.

## Where it stands (2026-10-24)

VS Code 1.143 went up on GitHub on 22 October 2026. Through February the editor shipped once a month, with 26 to 57 days between minor releases. Since 1.112 in March every gap has been five to nine days.

That makes 33 minor releases since 9 March, against 22 in the two years before. The GitHub entries carry no notes beyond a link to the updates page, so the X release threads are where the changes get named, and the 1.143 thread is about Copilot sessions, the Agents window and comparing models.
