# TypeScript release history and what changed since 2024

Every TypeScript beta, release candidate and stable release since January 2024, from npm and GitHub, and what happened to the TypeScript stories dev-news covered back then.

## Where it stands (2026-10-24)

TypeScript 7.0 shipped on 8 July 2026. It is the compiler and language service ported to Go, and the team calls it 10x faster. The 7.0.2 release on microsoft/TypeScript is a pointer: its notes say the tag "was originally released at" microsoft/typescript-go.

Every minor from 5.4 to 6.0 went beta, release candidate, stable. Beta to stable took 23 to 56 days. The longest wait between stables was 235 days, from 5.9 to 6.0, the release meant to be the last on the JavaScript codebase. 7.1 beta followed on 20 October.

5.4.2 went stable on 6 March 2024, 37 days after the beta. Three patch releases followed in five weeks, ending with 5.4.5 on 10 April.

Inferred type predicates shipped in TypeScript 5.5 on 20 June 2024. The 5.5 line then needed two more patches, 5.5.3 and 5.5.4, in July.

5.6.2 went stable on 9 September 2024. Its last patch, 5.6.3, came out on 8 October, one day before the 5.7 beta.
