**Wrangler 4.155.0** {wrangler} (2026-10-28). Deploys and `wrangler dev` now stop with an error when `.assetsignore` is not valid UTF-8 or contains null bytes. Until this release such a file lost its patterns without a word, and the files it was meant to keep out went up with the assets. Windows PowerShell 5.1 writes UTF-16 when you create the file with `>`, so that is the setup most likely to break on upgrade. Re-save it as UTF-8. Fourth Wrangler minor since 22 October.
